Comfort Seating – Sofa.com’s Most Comfortable Armchairs
Choosing a comfortable armchair that makes you feel on cloud nine is one of the most important decisions to be made when planning or revamping a living room.
But what exactly makes an armchair comfy? There are many factors at play, from the actual size of the chair to seat padding, back support, and armrest height. Plus, you want it to be stylish, too - nothing beats a cosy chair with good looks to boot.
Well, you're in for a treat as we've rounded up our nine most comfortable and stylish armchairs. Are you sitting comfortably?
Things to Consider When Choosing a Comfortable Armchair
When you need to relax, unwind and recharge, there's nothing like a sumptuous armchair to help you switch off.
Enveloping and embracing, an armchair is the big hug everyone needs when they walk through their front door. But how do you find the comfortable one for you? Here's what to look out for… One of the most obvious things to consider is the size and type, both in terms of how much space you have available and whether it's right for your home.
Consider a traditional full-size armchair, or a decorative accent chair that's sure to make a statement, alternatively a loveseat for sharing, or a chaise armchair to put your feet up.
Ideally, you should be able to sit with your spine flat against the back of an armchair and feet flat on the floor, but chilling out has become much more informal these days, and how you like to sit (or sprawl out) needs to be factored in.
Next there's the seat itself. You'll want to be able to stay comfy for hours on end so longevity is key. While firmness preference varies from one person to another, most people look for something in the middle. You want a seat that has thick enough padding with a bit of 'give' but not too much that it completely sinks under pressure.
The height of the armrests and chair back are also key considerations, as these also affect overall support. Pop in to your local showroom to test out the range, like Goldilocks and the three chairs.
