As the temperature dips and the layers come out, grey weather calls for jackets to throw on, knitwear to huddle under and boots to keep it all grounded. Autumn brings a new energy to getting dressed: suddenly, there's room to play with texture, proportions and all the pieces that spent summer shoved to the back of the wardrobe.

Layering season is officially here and we've teamed up with layers-loving stylist Jordan Dean Schneider to play with ways to pair your Doc's. No micro trends or wardrobe overhauls, just easy ideas to rework what you already own.

Whether it's a worn-out striped shirt, a vintage knit or that perfect pair of jeans you wear on repeat, the best Autumn outfits usually start with the same foundations: good layers, a little texture and a good pair of shoes to tie it together.
