Sauvignon Summer at Gauntleys
Dry whites really come into their own during the scorching summer months. Nothing quite partners a sweltering afternoon in the hot sun like a crisp, mineral and zesty glass of wine. So, with this in mind, and the interest of making hay whilst the sun quite literally shines, we have decided to put together a selection of our favourite Sauvignons for you to try, and enjoy over the coming few months!
Tasting and comparing wines side by side is also a wonderfully pleasurable and enlightening exercise. Why else would wine tastings be so popular? However, as much fun as comparing wines from different varieties, regions and styles is, it's always interesting seeing how contrasting expressions of a single variety differ. How does the same grape in different hands, different soils and climates come out? Just like listening to the different ways great musicians express themselves on the same instrument, it's fascinating to see different winemakers' expressions of the same grape variety.
So, from the Elgin Highlands of South Africa, to the remote valleys of north-eastern Italy, to the pristine rolling hills of Sancerre and beyond, whose Sauvignon composition will be your favourite this summer!
