Bench Mark

The continued growth and popularity of open-plan living has been the inspiration behind the development of Harvey Jones' range of bench seating.

The kitchen is now a multi-functional space that is enjoyed by the whole family throughout the day, and the bench seating has been carefully designed to provide a comfortable, sociable seating area - whether you are eating with the family, doing homework or hosting a dinner party.

Harvey Jones' bench seating is available in each of the Shaker, Linear and Original ranges and their design experts will be able to offer useful advice about the best way use of the space in your room. They will help you decide on the best location for the bench and how it can be best designed and tailored to meet your requirements for the kitchen.

It might be that the bench area is best integrated as part of an island design, keeping it as a central focal point in the room. This works well in larger spaces with sufficient space for a large island configuration. Alternatively, it might be best to design the furniture so that it is against a wall, or to utilise the space offered by an awkward nook or alcove to create a cosy and sociable seating area.

Like all of Harvey Jones' furniture, bespoke benches are made to order in their Cambridgeshire workshop which gives clients the chance to tailor the furniture to their exact requirements. For example, the bench in this kitchen has been designed to incorporate a narrow wine chiller. Benches can also be painted in any colour you choose. You might select a tone that matches the rest of the cabinetry in your room to create a sychronised look, or alternatively you may choose a colour that contrasts to add impact. And, as the furniture is hand painted, you can always change the colour in the future if your tastes change.

What's more, bench seating has the added benefit of offering useful extra storage in your kitchen. Harvey Jones have designed a lift-up top which allows access to a significant amount of hidden storage space underneath - while keeping any stored items out of sight. And it's not just the kitchen that can benefit from bench seating; they have also designed benches for hallways, landings and dining rooms, too.
